Living at Delmanor: Residents Share What Makes It Feel Like Home

If you’re considering retirement living but aren’t quite sure if it’s the right move—or if Delmanor is the right place for you—you’re not alone. Making the decision to move is a big step, and it deserves thoughtful consideration.

One of the best ways to explore your options is by doing your research, taking a tour, or hearing directly from those who already live in a retirement community.

But unless you happen to know someone living there, getting those insights can be tough. That’s why we sat down with four incredible women who currently call Delmanor home—two from Delmanor Aurora and two from Delmanor Elgin Mills—to hear what they love most about their community.

What Is the Best Thing About Living at Delmanor?

Isabel and Rosemarie – Delmanor Elgin Mills (Richmond Hill)

Both Isabel and Rosemarie smiled and had quick answers when asked what they liked best about their home.

Isabel likes the fact that her family knows she is safe, and she doesn’t have to fear that they are worried about her. She describes how she has met some really nice people and enjoys their company. She has high praise for the staff and medical team. She knows that she will always get good medical help when it is needed, and any questions she has will be answered completely and in a friendly tone.

Rosemarie echoes many of the same things as Isabel. Namely, she loves the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. She feels like the staff treat her as family, and they truly care and listen to her. Specifically, she loves how they put so much work into making occasions special with decorations and gifts, and how they are receptive to suggestions.

Kathy and Shirley – Delmanor Aurora (Aurora)

Despite living in a different Delmanor community than Isabel and Rosemarie, both Kathy and Shirley also applaud how caring, friendly, and helpful the staff and residents are.

Kathy loves the socialization that she wouldn’t have if she were living by herself. To her, the staff is amazing and they do a great job in keeping everyone active and well-adjusted.

For Shirley, it’s not just the staff and residents, but the activities and amenities that she likes the best. Her top highlight, though, is a special knitting group that she created herself called Naughty Knitters and Friends, which now has over 30 members.
